HOW IT STARTED
My elder son Muhammad
Sa'ad Naasik is very kind. One day, after
watching a TV program (in Perth, Australia)
on the lifestyle of the poor people in Asia and some poverty-stricken African
countries, he became very sad and was telling me that when he would grow
up and start earning money he would give all his money to the poor people!
I then asked him, "If you give away all your
money, how will you survive?" He could
not answer to my question. I then explained to him that one shoud donate
money to others keeping something for him to survive. On hearing this,
my younger son Muhammad Suhail Najeeb
expressed, "I am going to earn millions and
millions of dollars when I grow up, and I would then be able to donate
a lots of money to the poor people".
I appreciated their spirit and told them
that we do not have to pay that much. If every
one of us pays only a dollar or two, we can collect enough money to make
our poor people in Bangladesh very happy.
I told them that we could take the initiative to collect money for the
poor people by setting up a social welfare organization. And thus Hasana
Foundation Bangladesh was verabally formed.
Then Suhail Najeeb and Sa'ad Naasik on
another day (12th July 2001)
brought a coin holder before me and asked me to write a label "Donate
for Hasana Foundation Bangladesh" on it. Then,
Suhail Najeeb donated $2.00 (AU) and Sa'ad dropped $1.55 (AU) in the coin
holder. Thus, they became the first two donors for Hasana
Foundation Bangladesh. Following their
contribution, I also promised to donate $1,000.00 (AU). And the fund raising
campaign for the organization thus began.
